December 2006
In December 2006, SOAR shipped more than $58,000 worth of new toys, games, towels, sheets, clothes, school supplies, and personal hygiene products to Armenia. In addition, we purchased a new clothes dryer for Elen Orphanage, a new refrigerator for Vardashen Orphanage, and new shoes for the children at Houys and Nubarashen Orphanages (nearly 200 children total). All of our donated goods are transported by the United Armenia Fund (UAF), by either plane or sea container. Most of our holiday collection arrived via the airplane during the second week of December and distributed immediately thereafter by our Partners in Armenia (http://www.soar-us.org/partners.html).
SOAR has had an incredible first year, and we look forward to an even more exciting 2007!
August 2006
In late July 2006, SOAR shipped nearly $3000 worth of goods to Armenia. Sixteen boxes filled with new bath towels, linens, blankets, and clothing arrived in Armenia, via the United Armenia Fund (UAF) plane, in early August. All of the items were shipped to the attention of Sr. Arousiag Sajonian, one of our Partners in Armenia and the Director of the Our Lady of Armenia Center in Gyumri. Fourteen of the boxes were earmarked specifically for Sr. Arousiag's summer camp, held annually in Tsaghgazor. The other two boxes were distributed by our Partners (Dr. Lusine Avagyan and Siranoush Hovhannisyan) to Gavar Orphanage and Elen Orphanage. Below are pictures of the goods shortly after their arrival to Armenia.
