SOAR - Leeds Chapter
Launched in May 2017, Leeds is SOAR's fourth Chapter in the United Kingdom. The first Armenian community in Britain was formed in Manchester in the 19th century. Comprised of textile traders, small manufacturers and retailers, the first Armenian Church was opened in 1870. The Armenian population in Great Britain is approximately 18,000, living primarily in London and Manchester.

Taguhi Sahakyan is an early-career academic working in the field of English language education. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Nottingham and is currently working towards her doctoral degree in Education, University of Leeds. In addition to her research background, she has taught various courses in the university context both in the United Kingdom and Armenia.
