SOAR-Minsk joined the SOAR family in May 2014. First mentioned in the Medieval Chronicles in 1067, Minsk, the capital of Belarus and its geographical heart, has a population of 1.7 million. The city is situated in a picturesque locale on the banks of the Svisloch River, which historically was one of the busiest trade routes connecting the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. There are approximately 10,000 Armenians living in Belarus today, primarily in Minsk. A large number of prominent scientific and creative intellectuals from among the Armenian Diaspora have come to Minsk, including Aleksandr Myasnikyan, Sergey Sardarov, Gayke Bzhishkyan and Hovhannes Bagramyan.
