OCTOBER

The Tsaturyan family had been living in a small metal domik in very poor conditions. They have 3 small children and the father has health issues. SOAR purchased an apartment and the family now resides there in safe and comfortable conditions!

Much needed mechanical and cosmetic repairs on two buses for Saint Theresa’s Little Flower Orphanages in Syria funded by SOAR Salt Lake City

SOAR received approval from the humanitarian committee, and the van for SOAR’s Mobile Eye Care Project was released to our staff last month. We are now in the process of customizing the interior of the van for the Eye Care Project!

A celebration for senior day for the elderly center in memory of the second anniversary of the death of Angela Adjemian (mahvan 2rort darva hamar) donated by her daughter, Betty, Betty’s children (her grandchildren), Suzy (Suren) and Armen, and her great grandchild Angela.

And a party for the children at OLA to celebrate the birth of Suzy’s daughter!

SOAR East Coast Regional Director, Susan Harootunian, and Executive Board Secretary, Denise Sisian, visited Kharberd Orphanage. A small note on the visit from Susan:

This is our 4th time visiting Kharberd Orphanage. Our sponsored child is Angelina. We always bring something for everyone…this time it was ice cream delivered by Grand Candy which was really great for children and staff. We also brought clothes and some shoes for all the children in Angelina’s room. We got to see Kohar and Movses also that we had met before. My cousin Denise had previously bought Movses shoes before he had a sponsor. Kohar greets everyone at the gate and we were so happy to see her again and had some treats for her as well. It’s always such an emotional visit. Most of the kids are very happy and well taken care of but there are many that are still bedridden and in grave condition. The staff seem to do their best but there is no where near enough staff for the amount of seriously physical and medical conditions…breaks your heart.

Grand opening for the dehydration area. The fruit dehydrator was donated by Pam and Ron Khachadoorian in Honor of their Grandchildren – Van, Siroon, Nooné, and Mané Topjian.

Continued work at the space for the dehydration equipment at Dzorak to be used for all the produce grown in their new greenhouse. The system is scheduled to be in place in July.
